This months temporary exhibit is The RCMP & Morse. The town of Morse has a long history with the federal police force with the Morse Detachment having been established in 1928. While their detachment headquarters has changed location several times, Morse still is home to a RCMP Detachment. This year the RCMP celebrated their 150th Anniversary as a police force. The temporary display features mostly ephemera documents all relating to the RCMP and its long history. Some of the items on display include uniforms, several pictures of the Musical Ride, and a 125th Anniversary poster. Come on down to the museum and learn a bit about the RCMP and their Morse connections.

Morse Museum was originally a school house built in 1912. It started out as a four room building, but later, in 1928 two more rooms were added. After the new school was built on and the old building was no longer needed, a group of locals got together and a board was made. This former school building was designated Municipal Heritage Property in 1981. Thus began what is now known as the Morse Museum and Cultural Centre. Categories |
